PITSHANGER LIBRARY

Friends of Pitshanger Library is delighted that Ealing Council has today issued a press release to confirm that the Pitshanger Library has been awarded community managed status.

John had battled with the Council from July 2018 when the planned closure of libraries across the borough, including Pitshanger, was first announced. He attended and spoke at a number of Cabinet and Overview & Scrutiny Committee (OSC) meetings, including when the Cabinet decision was made in July 2019 and at the subsequent  OSC meeting in August 2019 when the decision was ratified.

In light of this, John and Rhian, together with Jeremy Hyde, who had originally founded the Friends of Pitshanger Library group together, began the process of establishing a charitable organisation and preparing a business plan and budget in order to apply to run the library under the Council's community managed library system.

The Council's press release can be read here: https://ealingnewsextra.co.uk/features/Pitshanger-library

If anyone wishes to volunteer please contact John or Rhian at the office. Please remember that no time is too little, no job too small and there are numerous roles besides looking after the counter.
